At IMAC Group, we’re proud to celebrate the people who make our business what it is. This month, we’re introducing Adrian Sbarcea, our Facilities Manager based at Gormanston Park.
Having been part of the team for nine years, Adrian’s career is a fantastic example of how dedication and a willingness to embrace new opportunities can lead to progression. After spending seven years working in security at Gormanston Park, he stepped into the role of Facilities Manager in 2024, building on an earlier career in the demolition industry.
What Adrian enjoys most about facilities management is that no two days are ever the same. From solving problems to overseeing maintenance and responding to new challenges, it’s a role that keeps him learning every day.
Life outside of work
When he’s not at work, Adrian enjoys heading outdoors with a fishing rod in hand. Whether he’s fishing for sea bass, trout or pike, it’s the perfect way to relax and enjoy nature.
People are often surprised to discover that alongside his practical skills, Adrian is also a keen cook and enjoys learning new languages.
If he could have any superpower, it would be the ability to fly, giving him the freedom to travel anywhere while enjoying spectacular views from above.
His favourite trips involve visiting family in Spain and skiing in the Austrian Alps, while Bali remains firmly at the top of his travel bucket list thanks to its stunning scenery and natural beauty.
Working with the IMAC team at Gormanston Park
As Facilities Manager, Adrian plays an important role in keeping Gormanston Park operating safely and efficiently.
A typical day involves planning and prioritising maintenance work, responding to issues as they arise, and ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards. The variety of the role is exactly what he enjoys most, with each day bringing fresh challenges and new opportunities to learn.
Adrian stays motivated by continuously developing his skills and taking on new challenges. Staying organised and focusing on priorities helps him remain productive, even when every day looks a little different.
One of his proudest achievements has been progressing from working night shifts in security into a management position, a milestone that reflects years of hard work, commitment and determination.
Inspiration and advice
Albert Einstein has always inspired Adrian because of his curiosity and passion for learning. His achievements remind Adrian that asking questions and thinking differently can often lead to incredible ideas.
The best advice he’s ever received is:
“Visualise the life you want, believe it’s possible, and take consistent action to make it happen.”
His favourite quote is one that perfectly reflects both his career journey and his outlook on life:
“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
