At IMAC Group, our people are at the heart of everything we do, and this month we’re delighted to introduce Sorina Olvedi, our Accommodation and Accounts Manager based with the IMAC Group team at Gormanston Park.
Having joined IMAC in October 2013, Sorina has become a hugely valued member of the team, bringing a wealth of experience, a strong work ethic, and a calm, organised approach to every challenge.

A journey based on learning and growth
Originally from Romania, Sorina graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking. After moving to Ireland, she continued investing in her professional development, completing a Diploma in Accounting Technician as well as a Bookkeeping qualification, where she achieved a distinction.
Before joining IMAC Group, she worked as a Legal Collection Officer and later as a Credit Sales Representative, experiences that helped build the financial, organisational, and communication skills she uses every day.
What attracted Sorina to the industry was the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where she could continue learning and developing new skills.
Life outside work
When she’s not balancing accounts or supporting operations, Sorina enjoys spending quality time with her family. She loves reading, puzzles, Sudoku, and road trips, especially when they involve discovering new places together.
One thing that might surprise people is her resilience. Sorina believes she has become very strong through life’s challenges, and she enjoys a bit of hip-hop music!
If she could have any superpower, it would be a healing touch, allowing her to help both herself and others.
Her travel bucket list has stayed with her since childhood. After learning about places such as Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, and Niagara Falls in geography class, she promised herself she would visit them one day.
Working with the IMAC Team at Gormanston Park
Sorina’s role is incredibly varied, combining accounting responsibilities with accommodation and operational support. She enjoys the clarity and logic that finance brings, particularly resolving discrepancies, reconciling accounts, and ensuring every detail is correct.
Over the years, she has supported a wide range of activities, including:
-
Accounting and invoicing
-
Payment collections and reconciliations
-
Accommodation allocations for large groups
-
Resident check-ins and check-outs
-
Activity and transfer coordination
-
Front-of-house support
-
HR assistance
-
Operational coordination at both Gormanston Park and UCD Residences
She has also helped create procedures, checklists, schedules, and plans of action that continue to improve how the team works.
What she enjoys most is knowing that her work helps both colleagues and clients have a smooth, positive experience.
Staying Motivated
For Sorina, organisation is key. She stays motivated by planning ahead, prioritising tasks, and focusing on completing one job at a time. No two days are ever identical, but starting with a clear to-do list helps her stay focused and productive.
Inspirational Insights
Sorina’s biggest inspiration is her parents, who taught her the value of hard work, honesty, and integrity despite growing up with limited resources.
One piece of advice that has stayed with her throughout her career is:
“Never promise something if you’re not sure you can deliver it.”
She also believes in the importance of written communication, often recalling the Latin proverb:
“Verba volant, scripta manent” – “Spoken words fly away, written words remain.”
Her proudest achievement at IMAC has been stepping into additional responsibilities whenever the business needed support, quickly learning new skills and helping ensure projects were completed successfully.
The quote that best reflects her approach to work is:
“Great things are never done by one person; they’re done by a team of people working toward a common goal.”
